Message To Athletes

This event is intended to promote the sport of duathlon and community togetherness. All athletes are welcome and we encourage first time athletes to participate.

It is the athletes responsibilty to know the course and be properly trained for it. Race officials reserve the right to pull a participant off the course if it appears as though the participant is a hazard to themselves or other participants. This is a USA Triathlon sanctioned event. All rules apply.

Run Course

The unique 2 mile run course is moderate hilly to flat in elevation. There are two aid stations offering water, Gatorade, and GU gel. The course is marked on race day with signage. Course marshals will be at all turning points to guide athletes.

Required Distances

Each athlete is required to complete the following:
• Run Leg # 1 – 1 loop (2 miles)
• Run Leg # 2 – 2 loops (4 miles), reverse course of Run Leg # 1.

*Note that RUN LEG # 2 is the reverse direction of RUN LEG # 1. See course maps for more details.

Bike Course

The bike course is a two loop, 26 mile, route through the rolling countryside and farmlands of Western Howard County, including moderate/heavy climbs along well maintained and paved two lane roads. There will be road marshals and/or police support at every turn. Please familiarize yourself with the route, as it is the athlete's ultimate responsibility to know the course.

Required Distances

Each athlete is required to complete the following:

• Bike two loops (13 mi per loop = 26 miles total)

Athletes must begin the second loop of the bike course by 10:00 AM. All cyclists MUST complete the bike course by 11:00 am. Athletes who do not complete the bike course by 11:00 AM will be permitted to finish the bike course but will not be permitted onto the run course.

  • The bike course is open to traffic during the race.
  • All competitors are required to follow the prescribed course.
  • Cutting the course is an obvious violation and going outside the course is a safety issue.
  • Cyclists shall not cross a solid yellow center road lines for ANY reason.
  • Although participants have the right of way to traffic, cyclists must obey all applicable traffic laws/officers at all times.
